Obituary

Dorothy Marie Meske of Grafton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday April 12th, 2021. Dorothy was born in Milwaukee August 9, 1927 to Hugo and Salome (Zimmermann) Bartlein. She was a 1945 graduate of West Division High School. Dorothy and Donald were married at Mother of Perpetual Help in Milwaukee on May 20, 1950. The couple lived in Milwaukee before building their home in Mequon where they raised their family. In 1977 they moved to Oostburg, where they enjoyed many years of beach living. Dorothy, or Dottie as her friends knew her, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed travel and long walks on the beach at her home on Lake Michigan. She eventually became a winter Texan and spent significant summertime at their lake cottage in Rhinelander. Later in life, she devoted a large portion of her time to her grandchildren and to helping others. It was as good for her own health as it was for others. She empowered people with her positivity and made everyone feel special and loved. Dorothy moved to Village Pointe Commons and was an instructor of the water aerobics program she began in 2017. She enjoyed the activities and cherished the close friendships she developed during the past few years at VPC. Now she is at peace, and we find peace in remembering her message. She was loved. Dorothy is survived by her three children Thomas (Pamela) Meske of Richfield, MN, Mark (Carol) Meske of Campbellsport, Gayle (Timothy) Buege of Cedarburg; grandchildren Sarah (Corey) Johnson, Michael Meske, Elizabeth (Scott) Wanka, Lori Meske, Kelsey Meske (fiancé Jeffery Weintraub), Joshua Buege and Christopher Buege; her great grandchildren Addison Johnson, Finley Johnson and Benjamin Wanka; her sister, June Campbell of Muskego and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, her stepfather Eric Jandt, brother Donald and wife Beverly Bartlein, sister Joanne and husband Leonard Kieliszewski and brother-in-law Kenneth Campbell. The family will hold a private service/celebration. Dorothy's family would like to thank Kathy's Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name are suggested to the Shriners Children's Hospital in the Twin Cities. (https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/minneapolis)
