Dorothea F. Samarzja, formerly of Cedarburg and Grafton, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 in Dublin, California at the age of 92 years. Dorothea was born on May 16, 1923 in Chisholm, Minnesota, daughter of the late Alessandro and Giuseppina (nee Carducci) Renzaglia. She attended her schooling in Chisholm, and graduated from Chisholm High School in 1941. Shortly after her graduation, she was united in marriage to John Samarzja on December 30, 1941, while John served his country in the United States Navy. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Daniel, Michael, and Mary. Dorothea was a longtime resident of Cedarburg from 1978 until 1994, then relocated to Grafton where she resided from 1994 until August of 2014. She then moved to California to enjoy the warmer weather and to be closer to her daughter Mary. Dorothea is survived by her children Michael (Jann) Samarzja and Mary (Clarence "C.J.") Coleman and grandchildren Kelly, Karen, Sara and Danielle. She is further survived by one great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothea was preceded in death by her beloved husband John and son Daniel Samarzja. Funeral Saturday, April 9, 2016, 12:30 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. A visitation will take place on Saturday from 11 AM until time of service. She will be laid to rest at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.
