Obituary

Donald W. Hetzel Mr. Don Hetzel of West Bend and formerly of Waubeka and Texas passed away Saturday morning December 6 2014 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. He was 79 years old. Don was born to Herbert Hetzel and Irmgard Eichman on November 12 1935 at his family's farmhouse outside of Waubeka. He graduated from Random Lake High School and went on to work as a metal mechanic at Voeller Inc. in Port Washington for over 25 years. On September 14 1968 he was united in marriage with Joan Stimes at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Don was a past Master and current member of the Ozaukee Lodge #17 F AM as well as the Order of the Easter Star Chapter 147 and had belonged to the NRA and the Newburg Gun Club. He loved camping and was a long term member of the West Bend Kettle Camping Club. Don was forever crafting and over the years had created windchimes birdhouses fountains mini churches and jewelry. He enjoyed bird watching reading and listening to country western music which was a love that began when he started a band as a teenager. Don is survived by his wife Joan of West Bend and three children: Dawn Carter (Jerry Carter) of Athens TN Laura Hetzel (fianc Michael McCoy) of West Bend and Kristin Hetzel of Theresa. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Michael Winters Lisa Carter Collin Maurer Jade Haylee and Presley McCoy Trevor and Alyssa Hetzel and Caleb Scherschel great-grandchildren Jaden Elijah and Jonah Winters Dawn's mother Faye Hetzel nieces other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandson Hunter McCoy great-grandson Isaiah Winters and brother Lyle Hetzel. Funeral Services will be held at 7PM on Thursday December 11 at the Ozaukee Lodge #17 504 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the lodge on Thursday from 5-7PM. Don will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Fillmore. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ozaukee Masonic Lodge #17. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
