Lifelong Cedarburg resident, Donald "Donnie" G. Uhlig, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the age of 84. Donnie was born in Cedarburg on August 30, 1933, the son of Richard and Amanda (nee Klenk) Uhlig. He attended local schools and worked on his family's Town of Cedarburg farm. After serving his country in the US Army, Donnie returned to Cedarburg and married Harriet Hespe at Immanuel Lutheran Church on July 2, 1960. He worked for many years as an estimator for several millwork and lumber companies but eventually returned to his farming roots. With his children, niece, and nephew, he raised pickles and potatoes to be sold at the West Allis Farmers' Market. Afterwards he enjoyed working outdoors, either gardening or developing and maintaining his park-like property, which was used to host family gatherings. Survivors include his wife Harriet; children Gail (Donald) Stauss and Lynn (Michael) Schulta; grandchildren Katie (Robert) Gratzl, Kurt (Alyssa) Stauss, Mary (Chad) Bledsoe, Amy Stauss, Jeremy (Tracey) Schulta, Joshua (Allie) Schulta, Justin Schulta and Jesse Schulta; great-grandchildren Stella Gratzl, Elinor Stauss, Matteo Stauss and Mason Schulta; siblings Richard (Karen) Uhlig, Dennis Uhlig and Susan (James) Davis. Also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Crystal Ruelle, his parents, and siblings Betty (the late Harold) Pipkorn, Carol (the late James) Iwert and Roger (Carol Keller) Uhlig. Private family funeral services were held. Interment was at Immanuel Cemetery. Memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of your choice appreciated.
