Mr. Donald E. Porteus of Cedarburg formerly of Waubeka passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on Tuesday April 7 2015 in Omaha Nebraska while returning home from an extended trip to Arizona. He was 77 years old. Don is survived by his wife Bonnie and their four children: Steve (Ana) Porteus of Cedarburg Heather (Mike) Krueger of Port Washington Mary (John) Young of Wauwatosa and Robert (Jayme) of Madison. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren: Aissa and Malcolm Porteus Rachel Zachary Brianna and Lyndie Krueger Ellis and Audrey Young and Wyeth and Brynn Porteus; 2 brothers-in-law Robert Chmielewski of Las Vegas and Arthur (the late Carole) Chmielewski of Bear Creek nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Don was born August 2 1937 in Milwaukee the only child of Rutherford and Marjorie (nee Veitch) Porteus. He earned a Bachelors Degree of Science from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1960 and proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. On November 19 1960 he was united in marriage with Bonnie Chmielewski. Don worked at Heider and Bott Company in Milwaukee for 35+ years where he served as Vice President and later President. Don and Bonnie lived in Waubeka on a hobby farm for 27 years before moving to Cedarburg in 2001. Don was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church the Ozaukee County Senior Men's Golf Club was active in the local military historians group and formerly had been a 4H leader. In his retirement Don enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Auburn Lake. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan a lifelong reader and a frequent golfer. He and Bonnie traveled the world visiting many exotic places. Don enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. Spending time with his family especially his grandchildren was what he enjoyed best. Don will be greatly missed by all especially Bonnie his loving wife of 54 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday April 17th at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church 1375 Covered Bridge Road in Cedarburg. Father Justin Lopina will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday morning from 10AM-12 noon. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested.
