Donald L. Lunde
Donald Lunde, of Oostburg, passed away after a five year battle with brain cancer in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his wife, daughters and dogs. He was 60 years old. Don was born in Brookings, SD, son of La Verne Lunde and Tonetta "Toni" Buckland Lunde. Don's family moved to Port Washington in 1968. He attended and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1974. In 1972, Don met the love of his life, Bonnie Blasing at Smith Bros. Restaurant where they both worked. The couple was married on March 1, 1975 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Don worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Kohler Co. for 37 years, retiring in 2014 due to his illness. He was a proud member of UAW Local 833 in Kohler. Don was also a longtime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Washington and a current member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time outdoors, playing with his grandchildren and also walking his dogs, Reba, Rex and Baxter. Don is survived by his wife Bonnie of Oostburg and two daughters Erica (Josh) Walhovd of Greenfield and Sara (Andrew) Kagol of New Brighton, MN. He is further survived by his four grandchildren; Ryan, Isaac, Aleece and Nora, his mother Tonetta of Port Washington, three sisters; Vicki (Paul) Czisny, Karla (Tad) Mertens and Tawnya (Paul) Lewis, all of Port Washington, brother-in-law Bob (Barb) Blasing of Port Washington, sister-in-law Pat Uyeda of New Holstein, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father La Verne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Pastor Jonathan Breimeier will preside. He will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan. A time of gathering will be held on Thursday, May 5th at the Funeral Home from 4-6 PM.
