DONALD J. SCHOMMERnbsp;nbsp; ldquo;Peanutsrdquo; Mr. Don Schommer of Belgium passed away at his home after a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday morning August 14 2010.nbsp; He was 69 years old.nbsp; Don was born in Sheboygan on September 8 1940 son of Joseph and Eugenia Breyer Schommer. nbsp;Raised in Dacada Don attended area schools and graduated with the Random Lake High School Class of 1958.nbsp; Mr. Schommer proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps.nbsp; He was united in marriage with Mary Smith at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada on September 17 1966. The couple settled in Belgium shortly after. Don drove truck for Kohlrsquo;s Foods for over 30 years retiring in 2000.nbsp; He was the Village President of Belgium for almost 20 years.nbsp; Don was a member of the American Legion Post 412 the Belgium Lions was one of the original members of the Snow-Runners snowmobile club helped start Luxembourg Fest and was the local Santa Claus from 2000-2008. He was a Civil War buff liked traveling out east to visit the battlefields and was an avid Packers Brewers and NASCAR fan.nbsp; Peanuts main hobby was being involved with his community and he loved talking with all of the different people he met on a daily basis.nbsp; Don loved to spend time with his family frequently having a glass of wine with his wife on the back patio or by the fireplace.nbsp; He is survived by his wife Mary their daughter Dana Schaff of Kimberly and his granddaughter Tatum Schaff also of Kimberly.nbsp; He is further survived by his brother Robert (Jean) Schommer of Fort Myers FL 4 sisters: Margaret (Gilbert) Miller of Random Lake Ruth (the later Eugene) Heuer of Grafton Kathleen Thelen of Saukville and Monica (Steve) Frantz of Greer SC 3 brothers-in-laws: Jerome Doll of Port Washington Richard (Betty) Smith of Springfield VA and Paul (Cathleen) Smith of San Marcos CA.nbsp; Also surviving are nieces nephews other relatives and many friends.nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents his daughter Dawn Schommer and his sister Delores Doll.nbsp; Funeral Services will be held at 7PM on Wednesday August 18th at Holy Rosary Holy Cross Chapel.nbsp; Father Jim Ernster will officiate.nbsp; The family will receive visitors on Wednesday at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington (1600 W.
