Donald (Fiss) R. Peiffer of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 23, 2017 after a long battle with COPD. Donald was 82 years old. He was born to Clarence and Marcella (nee Remich) Peiffer on January 20, 1935. He married Carol Greisch on August 4, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington and together they had three children. Don graduated from Port Washington High School in 1953 and shortly after entered the United States Army. He served in Germany where he was a mechanic and tow-truck driver. After leaving the military he returned home to work with his father in the family business, Peiffer Auto Service. For over 50 years Don, his father, and brother Dave owned the business where they sold American Motors Automobiles, Bolens Lawn and Garden equipment and provided full service ENCO Gasoline. Don was an avid softball player. He sponsored Peiffer Auto Service Softball teams for over 25 years. He also loved to golf and was proud when he shot a hole-in-one at a local golf course. Don was a member of the Port Washington Lion's Club for several years. In his later years, Don enjoyed taking frequent trips to the casinos, especially Oneida Casino. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Papa will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his wife Carol, his children Vicki (Bill) Fowler, Don (Jill) Peiffer, Rick (Jan) Peiffer; grandchildren, Melissa (Erick) Short, Lora (Jake) Waraksa, Jenna Kemp, Megan Peiffer, Derek Peiffer, Angela (Matt) Kinzel, Ryan Beecher, Jill Peiffer, Bret (Lindsay Bangert, fiancée) Peiffer, Andrea (Stephen) Considine and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, David (Diane) Peiffer; step-brother, Gerald Wilde; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, grandson-in-law, Kerry M. Kemp and brother-in-law, William (Bounce) Greisch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary's Church (451 N. Johnson St. Port Washington, WI) with Father Pat Wendt presiding. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Port Washington.
