IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Don W.
Snider
March 11, 1941 – August 28, 2023
Don W. Snider of Port Washington went to Heaven on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Milwaukee to Wilson and Janet Snider on March 11, 1941. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 60 years and 11 days, and together they had two children.
Don and his humor will remain in the hearts of his wife Susie, his daughter Cindee (Tony) Re; daughter-in-law Sheri (Paul) Scharnweber; brother Mark (Ann) Snider; grandfather of Kyle (Noelle), Sam, Sarah (Zeke), Anna, Megan, Nathan (Jen), Dylan, Taylor, and Timmy; great grandfather to Theo.
Through the years, Don and Susie loved to ice skate, walk hand-in-hand, go for drives in the country, bike ride, cross country ski, spend time with family, and cheer on all their favorite teams!
Don's greatest sorrow was losing his son Timm, who died at age 32, but he found great comfort in spending time with Timm's sons, Taylor and Timmy.
Don was an athlete, playing baseball with Bob Uecker and later shortstop for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. He went on to coach hockey, soccer, basketball, and baseball, mentoring players on every team. He was a Brewers, Packers, Bucks, and NASCAR fan (always cheering on his favorite driver, #34 Michael McDowell).
Don taught for two years South Division High School in Milwaukee right after college and for 30 years at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington. Don was a man born to teach.
He was also a man of faith who encouraged, inspired, and showed compassion in all he did. Don loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to spend time in God's beautiful world.
Don was proud of the nonprofit his daughter Cindee co-founded, always eager to hear the latest news and to offer encouragement. He believed in the mission of Chronic Joy and knew their work was needed in the world.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53074. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the time of service at 5:00pm. Don will be laid to rest at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lannon, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory can be made to Chronic Joy (chronic-joy.org) or Chronic Joy, 1015 Lemira Circle, Waukesha, WI 53188.
