Mrs. Dolores Sauer of Port Washington passed away at her home Sunday evening, April 10, 2022 following a long struggle with health issues. She was 95 years old.
Dolores was born at the family home in Dacada on February 27, 1927, daughter of Nicholas and Mathilda Krier Jungers. She attended St. Nicholas School and later graduated from Random Lake High School (where her older brother Richard was one of her teachers). She furthered her education at cosmetology school in Milwaukee and became a hairdresser.
On May 22, 1946 she was united in marriage with Edward Sauer at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple lived in West Bend for a short while before moving up north to Shawano. They moved to Port Washington in the early 1950's and raised their family of three daughters. Ed preceded her in death in 1987.
Dolores was a member of St. John XXIII- Parish St. Mary Church. She enjoyed playing a good game of sheepshead or cribbage, was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting and counted cross stitch. Dolores also enjoyed socializing with family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters Joi (the late Bill) Kult of Oconomowoc, Sandra (Gary) Rollinger of Brookfield and Annette Zamora of Port Washington, six grandchildren: Andrew Schultz, Michelle Schultz, Eric (Stacy) Rollinger, Mark (Jodi) Rollinger, Catherine Zamora and Sara (Joseph Hartung) Zamora and six great-grandchildren: Edward & Anna Rollinger, Livia & Cecelia Rollinger, Patrick & Sylvia Zamora. She is further survived by sisters-in-law Marnie (the late Alan) Sauer and Donna (the late Walt) Sauer, brother-in-law Robert (Alice) Sauer, numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by sister Genevieve (the late Orrin) Voigt, brothers Fred (the late Loretta) Jungers, Roman (the late Dorothy) Jungers, Richard (the late Edna) Jungers, Hugo (the late Marie) Jungers and brother-in-law Ray (the late Jeanne) Sauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, April 21st at St. John XXIII – St. Mary Church, 430 N. Johnson St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington, following the service. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 9:30AM until services at 10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Port Washington Food Pantry.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the following caregivers and medical staff for their care over the years: Alesha and Dr. Wilfong at Aurora Medical Center, Pam from Comfort Keepers, Michelle, Jill, Cassandra, Shequanda, Andrea and staff from Aurora at Home Hospice. They would also like to acknowledge and thank all who supported Dolores and the family though the years with visits, cards, calls and love.
