Mrs. Diane Wenzel of Cedar Grove, formerly of Milwaukee, Glendale and Oostburg, passed away Sunday morning, August 12, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years old. Diane was born in Milwaukee on May 31, 1939, daughter of Joseph and Catherine Sauer Monfre. She attended local schools, graduating from Riverside High School, Class of 1957. She was united in marriage with Thomas Wenzel on November 23, 1957 in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Milwaukee, later moving to Glendale and Oostburg before moving to their current home in Cedar Grove in 1993. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2017. Mrs. Wenzel worked in purchasing and inventory control for Autotrol. Later, she and her husband operated Tim's Custard (currently Wayne's Drive-In) in Cedarburg, as well as the General Store at the Cedarburg Woolen Mill. Upon moving to the Cedar Grove area, Diane helped as a lunch lady at St. Mary Catholic School in Belgium and volunteered at the Good As New Shop in Cedar Grove, pricing items for the shop. She had an amazing perineal garden at her home and loved to see the flowers bloom from her porch. Most of all, Diane loved buying and selling antiques that she acquired at estate sales. Diane is survived by her three sons: Jeffery, Paul (Cheryl) and Daniel Wenzel, ten grandchildren: Sophia, Joy, Julie, Joshua, Carolyn, Greg, Tim, Sarah, Stephen and Eric, and ten great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brother Joseph (Janice) Monfre, other family and friends. Diane is preceded in death by her husband Tom, brother Dennis "Denny" Monfre and sister Marlene Fisher. Funeral services will take place at 10:30AM on Monday, August 20th at the Chapel of the Flowers, Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Deacon Gerry Maleug will preside. The family will receive visitors at The Chapel of the Flowers prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30AM. Memorials, if desired, are suggested to Divine Savior Parish.
