Diane Marie Carrano (nee Peterson), of Chicago, IL, passed away on September 19, 2024, at Village Point Commons in Grafton, WI, where she had resided for the past six months. She was born on March 11, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to George and Anna Peterson.
She graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1952. On September 12, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ralph Carrano. They met at the USO and were together until his death in 2000. They had one son, Ken, who was the light of their lives. Diane worked for International Harvester in downtown Chicago for 42 years as the executive assistant to the general counsel of the company.
She was a member of the Wildwood Presbyterian church after she moved to Gurnee, IL in 2001 to be near her family. She enjoyed time with her family, traveling, card making, and animals (dogs in particular). She also was a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox.
Diane is survived by her son, Ken (Ann) Carrano, of Cedarburg, WI, and her grandchildren, Chris of Kansas City, MO, and Elizabeth of Clarksville, TN. She is also survived by her brother, Ray (Carol) Peterson of Chippewa Falls, WI and by numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Carrano, her beloved dog, Rusty, and her lifelong friends, Gene and Phyllis Young, and Barbara Wotanek.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 24th, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI, with Father Ben Hankinson officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 am to 12 noon, with the service following at noon.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Aurora Hospice, especially nurse Katherine and chaplain Matthew. They would also like to thank Sheena, and the staff at Village Point Commons, for the care and support they provided to Diane over the last few months of her life.
