Derrick Scott Durkee, of Fredonia, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly Sunday morning September 22, 2019 with family and friends at his side. A lifelong motorcycle lover, Derrick left this world the way he would've wanted – on two wheels.
Derrick was born on February 8, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the second of George and Dorothy Durkee's three children. Derrick attended Sunnyside Grade School, Homestead High School, M.A.T.C., and spent most of his life working at American Can Company, Auto Body shops, and retired from Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 2007.
Derrick was a free spirit who loved his wife, Margo, his family, his friends, his toys and his freedom. Having no children of his own, he was Uncle Derrick to many, and he rarely missed a birthday, a wedding, reunion, or a happy hour. In his spare time, he loved to build and customize hotrods/motorcycles listen to music/guitars, and more. He loved life and lived it as he wanted. His enthusiasm for the open road knew no boundaries, but he always found his way home to those he loved, especially his beloved wife, family, and very close life-long friends. A very special, fun, loving man with a heart of gold, who will be missed dearly.
Derrick is survived by his loving wife, Margo Durkee. He is also survived by his siblings, Lorna (Doug) and Peter (Sally) and brother-in-law, Rick (Lori). He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, and countless friends from near and far.
Derrick was preceded in death by his father, George Durkee (1995) and mother, Dorothy (Dot) Durkee (1993).
