Wick, Dennis John. Age 92 years. Born to Eternal Life January 10, 2021.
Dennis was a resident of Port Washington, having moved there from Milwaukee in July of 2007. He was born the son of John and Emma Wick on January 7, 1929. In August 1946, Dennis enlisted in the US Navy after finishing his junior year of high school. He served on the naval destroyer USS John R Craig during the end of World War II and was part of the occupation of Japan. Dennis was discharged in October 1949. Dennis was honored to serve his country and was proud of the continued military service being carried on by his son and grandsons.
Dennis married Olga Mary Parcenka on Aug. 9, 1952 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Together, they raised 8 children and were long-time members of St. Margaret Mary Parish. Dennis was a plumber by trade and a member of Plumbers Local #75 for 70 years. He also belonged to St. Joseph Benevolence Society and the Saukville American Legion Post #470.
Dennis will be most remembered for his tremendous love of family. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing meant more to him than having everyone attend the many family gatherings of such a large family. This is best recalled by a family member who was sitting nearby Dennis during a past Christmas celebration with all his children and grandchildren present. Looking out at the crowd and commotion, Dennis turned to the one seated next to him and said, "I never had a big home or fancy vacations, but this is what it's all about". His presence at future celebrations will always be remembered, but sorely missed.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Olga, daughter Susan Urbanski and son-in-law Tom Urbanski.
He is survived by children Denice (Tom) Fischer of Watertown; Pam Conrad and David (Mary Beth), both of Saukville, Karen (Jim) Davies of New Castle, PA; Lisa (Mark) Lenz of DeKalb, IL, Michael (Bianca) of Merrillville, IN, and Mary Jo (Bill) Fish of Hudson. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
