Dennis Panek, 73, of Port Washington an avid gardener and cook, passed away on Monday June 20, 2016. Dennis was born in Sparta, WI on November 26, 1942, to Chester Panek and Marjorie Olson Panek. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School with the Class of 1961. On February 25, 1965 he married Carol Jensterle at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Dennis worked at Grafton High School as an English teacher for 34 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed tending to his garden and in the kitchen cooking, but especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dennis is survived by his wife of 51 years Carol of Port Washington, his two children Kim (Ben) Rich and Marc (Deanna) Panek, both of Port Washington. He is further survived by five grandchildren: Tony (Kelsey) Schmit, Adam (Ashley) Schmit, Alexandra (Aric) Daniels, and Sarah and Sophie Panek, four great-grandchildren: Jaden, Maddox, Reese and Charlie Anne, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance to Dennis' wishes, private funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Port Washington Food Pantry.
