Mr. Dennis Harry of Port Washington, formerly of West Allis, passed away at his residence Sunday, February 2, 2020, at the age of 75.
Dennis was born in Milwaukee on August 18, 1944, son of Alvin and Phyllis Williams Harry. He attended local schools before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp., where he attained the rank of Lance Corporal. Following his service, Dennis took a position with Harnischfager Corporation in Milwaukee. Dennis retired after more than 40 years on the job, having worked as a machinist and a floor manager. He moved to Port Washington in 2017 to be closer to his family.
Mr. Harry was a passionate NASCAR fan and enjoyed going up north to the family cabin in Wausaukee. He was the former president of West Allis Charities and had been in charge of running West Allis Western Days for many years. Dennis leaves behind his loving canine companion Bella.
Survivors include his three children: Jason (Kim) Harry, Christopher Harry and Angela (Rick) Gillaspie, nine grandchildren: Autumn, Ellisyn, Jahziah, Alex, Nick, Andy, Lacie, Jeff (Jen) and Joe (Amber). He is further survived by great-grandchildren Aubree and Elayna, brother Marvin (Wilma) Harry, sisters Marilyn (the late William) Schwartz and Joyce (the late Richard) Plate, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Alvin & Phyllis Harry and sister Carol (the late Chuck) Poenitzsch.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Dennis will be laid to rest at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI with Military honors.
