David P. McCarthy passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was 78 years old. David was born on January 13, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Edward and Mary (nee Connor) McCarthy. He was united in marriage to Rita Donaldson on August 28, 1987 at St. Joseph Parish in Grafton. After retirement, David and Rita enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. Family reunions and weddings were a priority in their lives. A highlight of their traveling was a three-week trip to Europe. David is survived by his loving wife Rita (nee Donaldson), children; Margo (John) Donahue of Coon Rapids, MN, Brian (Susan) McCarthy of Atlanta, Georgia and Kevin McCarthy of Milwaukee, Mary (Gene) Scheuermann of Fredonia, Michael (Kim Johnson) Gannon of Port Washington, John Gannon of Appleton, James (Kathryn) Gannon of Green Bay and Patrick Gannon of Fredonia, 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Ann (Russell) Feurer of Illinois. David is preceded in death by his children David and Molly McCarthy, brother Michael McCarthy and sister-in-law Barbara McCarthy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church (1375 Covered Bridge Road Cedarburg, 53012). The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:00-2 PM. Immediately following mass interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Grafton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Lasata Care Center Rehab. David's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all staff at Lasata for the care and compassion provided David.
