David John Kreiner, 75 years old, passed away peacefully July 3, 2019 in Cedarburg, WI. Born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 21, 1944, he was raised in Port Washington and Appleton, where he met his future wife, Mary Jane Meyers, on a blind date in 1960. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1962 and attended UW Madison where he lived in Beta Theta Pi house. Dave married his lifelong love and wife of 52 years, Mary Jane, in 1966 and graduated with a business degree in 1967.
His career in sales and marketing took the family—three children—across many states, including Ohio, California, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. An Eagle Scout, he enjoyed being a scout leader. He supported his kids' swimming and choir activities and sought out adventure. He loved skiing, tennis, golf, backpacking, annual fishing camp, wayfinding with maps and a compass, and canoeing and camping on Pine Island on the Wisconsin River. He dove out of a plane, flew in a P-51, flew solo in glider planes, and did 30 laps at the Texas Motor Speedway. He loved traveling and counted Tanzania, Kenya, Italy, and Grand Cayman among his favorites. He loved all things time and through his business, Accurate Sundials, made dials that told real clock time by taking into account the specific latitude and longitude where they were placed. Today they can be found all across the country.
Dave is survived by spouse Mary Kreiner (née Meyers), children Tim Kreiner (Mia Stark), Martha Kreiner (Amy Zimmerman), and Michael Kreiner (Kelli Bultman), and grandchildren Jamie Miller (Amanda) and Nathan Kreiner. He is further survived by many loving and loyal family and friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, July 20th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 noon until 1pm, followed by a brief Celebration of Life. He will be inurned at Advent Lutheran Columbarium in Cedarburg, WI at a later time.
Donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Fisher House Wisconsin in Milwaukee, for veterans and their families. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
