IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David W.
Barrow Iii
January 27, 1939 – January 25, 2024
David Woolfolk Barrow III, age 84, of the Town of Cedarburg, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He was born January 27, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to David Woolfolk Barrow, Jr. and Marion Thorp Barrow. He married A. Marian Brackin on November 30, 1968 in Tampa, Florida. David and Marian had two children, Suzanne and David IV "Dave".
David studied accounting and received his juris doctor from Stetson University. He practiced law in Florida until 1978. He was involved in many community organizations including the Elks, Jaycees, Masons, Rotary Club and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. In 1978, David moved his family to Cedarburg, Wisconsin to work at his father's insurance company. David was fascinated by and learned as much as he could about computers and helped the family business be an early adopter of the technology. After the family business closed, David started a computer consulting business where he sold hardware and programmed computers.
While living in Wisconsin, David became active in community and government organizations including the Ozaukee Radio Club, Ozaukee Amateur Radio Emergency Services, American Radio Relay League; he was elected to serve as the Constable for the Town of Cedarburg for multiple terms and he served on the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors. For many years David volunteered at the library and at Lasata Senior Living to teach email and computer literacy to seniors so they could keep in touch with their grandkids. He was also passionate about law enforcement and gun safety and was part of an instruction team for concealed carry permit preparatory classes. David loved reading and people he met were never strangers for long. He was fond of sharing a silly song or joke with those around him.
David is survived by his 2 children: Suzanne (Richard Benjamin) Derrick of Plainfield, IL and Dave of West Bend; 2 grandchildren, Rebecca "Becca" Wyles Barrow and Richard Aleksandr "Alex" Derrick; and his brother Christopher T. (Susan) Barrow of Vero Beach, FL, his sister-in-law Barbara Barrow of Milwaukee; Edgar "Ed" Brackin of Tampa, FL, and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marian; his parents David Jr. and Marion Barrow; his in-laws Edgar and Bertie Brackin; and his brother Robert R. Barrow.
