IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darren Lee
Hess
October 17, 1968 – February 5, 2026
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Darren Lee Hess. Darren, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly during a tragic accident in Ozaukee County on Thursday, February 5, 2026. He was 57. Darren was born the beloved son of Donald and Diane (Flerlage) Hess in Milwaukee on October 17, 1968. He was united in marriage to Wendi Ellerbeck on May 14, 1994 and together raised two beautiful daughters.
With a natural talent for mechanics, Darren gained the reputation for being able to fix just about anything, often accompanied by his signature colorful language.
Later in life, Darren discovered a deep passion for horses, dedicating countless hours to caring for his beloved horse, Princess. He loved grooming and hand-walking her, relishing the time spent with his wonderful barn family, where he could always be found sharing laughs and “shooting the $hit” with friends. Darren had a kind and generous spirit. He would always lend a hand to anyone in need. He made a lasting impact on the lives of those around him, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
Darren’s memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife Wendi, his father Donald Hess and brother Daniel Hess; loving children Bailey (Vincent) Anderson and Lori (Jamie Camacho) Hess and his beloved horses Princess, Pippa and Carmel. He was preceded in death and welcomed home by his mother Diane Hess.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Darren’s life will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Community United Methodist Church, W68 N563 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church in a time of visitation from 10:00-11:30am.
