Ms. Darlene Russell passed away Monday morning, June 4th, 2018, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old.
Darlene was born on May 9, 1946 in Long Beach, CA, daughter of James "Bud" and Arlene Smith McKelvey. She attended local schools and graduated from Milikan High School in Long Beach, CA in 1964 and continued on to earn her Associates Degree from Long Beach City College in 1966. On October 3, 1967 Darlene was united in marriage with Richard Russell in Kailua, HI. The couple settled in Cypress, CA and raised two children. Mrs. Russell worked as an LPN at Los Alamitos Hospital. She moved to Oklahoma City, OK in 1995, retiring from St. Anthony Hospital in 2016. Darlene moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her family, and settled in the Sheboygan area.
Mrs. Russell attended Crossroads Community Church in Sheboygan, and in her younger days enjoyed painting ceramic statuary, crocheting and taking care of her family. She loved her many pets – both cats and dogs- and enjoyed their companionship.
Darlene is survived by her children Kim (Wayne) Hirschmann of Cedar Grove and Mike Russell of Billings, MT, and five grandchildren: Justin, Peyton, Ben, Zachary and Zoe. She is further survived by her mother Arlene McKelvey of West Allis, brothers Jim (Cindy) McKelvey, also of West Allis, and Bruce McKelvey of Oklahoma, former husband Dick Russell of Billings, MT, a niece, a nephew, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, "Bud" McKelvey.
A Memorial Service is planned for 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June 12th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Pastor Adam Steinbock will preside. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:30 PM until services at 6:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
