Obituary

DANTE L. VALENTI Mr. Dante Valenti of Port Washington formerly of Milwaukee passed away surrounded by his family at Ellen's Home in Port Washington. He was 84 years old. Dante was born on March 15 1920 in Burgess Missouri to William and Theresa Rubatt Valenti. After high school Mr. Valenti entered the US Navy and served at a gunner on PT boats in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Mr. Valenti was a boxer winning the Wisconsin Heavyweight Championship Golden Gloves in 1939. He went pro after leaving the service and boxed in California for a few years before retiring. He settled in the Milwaukee area and went to work for AO Smith retiring after 32 years. He moved to Port Washington in 1969. Dante was a member of the Steelworkers Union an avid Brewers fan and enjoyed hunting fishing and taking care of his grandchildren. He taught himself High German and then traveled to Europe to make use of his language skills. He is survived by his 6 daughters: Mary Jo (Michael) Gracz of Oregon WI Nanc (Gerald Wester) Valenti of Cedarburg Christine Valenti of Washington DC Theresa (Kenneth) Rismeyer of Medford WI Jayne (the late Jack) Miller of Eugene OR and Patti of Texas. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren 2 great-grandchildren 1 brother Joseph (Jean) Valenti of Jennings LA nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 1 brother Florian Valenti. Funeral Services will be held for Dante on Thursday June 3 2004 7PM at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Thursday June 3rd from 3-7PM.
