Clemens T. Bichler
Clemens "Clem" Bichler, of Belgium, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, November 23, 2015 at Belgium Gardens where he had been a resident for a short time. He was 87 years old.
Clem was born in the Town of Holland on December 28, 1927, son of Nicholas Bichler and Susan Mayer Bichler. He attended school in Dacada, and then worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the US Army in 1950. He served honorably, until his discharge in 1952. On August 20, 1955 he married Geraldine "Gerry" Lanser at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. The couple settled in Belgium to raise their family. Clem worked in the Receiving Department at Bolens Manufacturing for 38 years, retiring in early 1990's.
Clem was a member of Divine Savior Parish, an active member of Belgium American Legion Post 412, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Catholic Knights, and a former member of the Belgium Village Board. Clem recently enjoyed a trip to Washington D.C. with Stars and Stripes Honor Flight with his son Roy as his guardian. Clem also enjoyed putting together puzzles, gardening, playing sheepshead, splitting wood, picking apples, and cutting lawn. He was also very proud to place flags on fellow veterans' graves in Northern Ozaukee County for over 40 years.
Clem is survived by 6 children: Dean (Linda) Bichler of Crystal Lake, IL, Annie (James) Noster of Belgium, Roy (Gerri) Bichler, also of Belgium, Kevin (Barb) Bichler of Port Washington, Bryan (Katie) Bichler and Mark (Lori) Bichler, both of Random Lake. Daughter, Mary Sue Bichler died on November 30, 1988. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Coletta Schmitt of Random Lake, Sr. Philip Neri of St. Francis, and Mary (John) Schmitz of Belgium, three brothers: Robert (Mary Jo) of Racine, Nic (Mary Ann) of Dacada and Tom (Bonnie) of Random Lake, his sister-in-law Mary Ann Lanser, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Gerry, five brothers; Claude, Cletus, Francis, Greg, and Vernon Bichler, and two sisters Rita Mondloch and Dorothy Bichler and many sisters and brothers-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 27th at 6 PM at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel in the Town of Belgium. Father Todd Budde will preside over the Mass. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Mary Parish Cemetery, Lake Church. Visitation will take place at the CHURCH on Friday, November 27th from 2-5:30 PM, with a Legion walkthrough at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the MACC Fund, T-Baum Foundation or the Belgium American Legion Post 412. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium, is honored to serve the family.
