Obituary

Claytus P. Ziehr nbsp; Mr. Clayt Ziehr of Wind Sail Court in Random Lake formerly of Fredonia passed away Tuesday morning December 30 2008. He was 87 years old. Claytus was born March 30 1921 in Wisconsin Rapids the son of Paul and Linda Anderson Ziehr. nbsp;He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1938 and then proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. On April 11 1942 he was united in marriage with Loraine Laubenstein at St. Johnrsquo;s Lutheran Church in Fredonia. She preceded him in death in 1985. On October 19 1988 he was united in marriage with Sylvia (nee Arndt) Yoho. Clayt was a retail lumber dealer at Neuens Lumber Company for 56 years and co-owned the company from 1978 to 1994. Mr. Ziehr was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and had previous belonged to St. Johnrsquo;s Lutheran Church in Fredonia. He belonged to the Warren Kane American Legion Post 410 in Fredonia and had been Chairman of the Fredonia Centennial Committee. Claytus is survived by his loving wife Sylvia and his five children: Linda (the late Randy) Peiffer David (Maria) Paul (Lynn) Robert (special friend Julie) and Sandra Ziehr. He is further survived by nine step-children: Ken (Jane) Bob Steve (Lori) Neal (Gayle) and Sara Yoho Lynn (Steve) Brown Shirley (Tom) Dekker Ginny (Erv) Witte and Kristine Neuenfeld 31 grandchildren 31 great-grandchildren one brother Donald (Helen) Ziehr and one sister Beverly (Norbert) Klein nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Claytus is preceded in death by his first wife Loraine one daughter Marcia two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 5PM on Saturday January 3 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church Pastor Gail Mitchell will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 2PM until the time of services at 5PM. Claytus will be laid to rest next to his first wife Loraine at St. Johnrsquo;s Lutheran Cemetery in Fredonia with military honors.
