Mrs. Clara Weyker, of Dacada, passed away with family at her side in the morning hours of Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. She was 97 years old.
Clara was born in the Town of Holland on the family farm on November 15, 1923, daughter of John Rassel and Clara Laures Rassel. Growing up, she attended school at St. Nicholas School in Dacada. On May 10, 1941, she married Lawrence Weyker at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1974, exactly 47 years apart.
Clara was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church (Our Lady of the Lakes Parish) and was also a member of the Christian Women. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. In her younger days, she was an excellent softball pitcher on the St. Nicholas Girls' softball team. She passed on her love of the game to all her children and grandchildren. Clara enjoyed the many family get-togethers, including summer parties and holidays. She was the rock of the family.
She is survived by her 12 children: Ronald (Lois) of Belgium, Dianne (the late Gerald) Schmit of Random Lake, Judith (Robert) Wiedmeyer of West Bend, Carol (Steve) Bares of Belgium, David (Jean) of Belgium, Anthony (Lea) of Sheboygan, Jane (Guy) Harkness of Liberty, MO, Steven (Liz) of Little Kohler, Lori (David) Hill of Fredonia, Charles (Emily) of Saukville, Paul (Lonnie) of Cedar Grove, Lisa (John) Reiter of Sheboygan Falls. Clara is further survived by 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister-in-law Doris Rassel of Random Lake, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and James Ronk, son-in-law Gerald Schmit, and three granddaughters: Mary, Sara, and Ashley, and seven brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish – St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada. Father Gideon Buya will preside over the Mass. Visitation will take place Thursday, October 7th from 3-7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave, in Belgium and again Friday the 8th at St. Nicholas Church from 10-11 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, Dacada.
