Obituary

Mr. Chester Ziemienski of Saukville, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the age of 95 years.  Chester was born in Milwaukee on July 24, 1924, son of Chester Sr. and Frances Durdel Ziemienski.  He attended Boys Tech High School where he was a member of the swim team and was a pole vaulter on the track team. He later earned a degree in Forestry from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Mr. Ziemienski proudly served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 until 1948.  On June 11, 1948, Chester was united in marriage with Marian Penkalski at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Milwaukee.  The couple settled in Milwaukee and raised their family of five children.  Marian preceded him in death in 2011. Chester used his degree in Forestry to start American Tree Experts in 1950. It later became a family business, and Chester retired in 1989, leaving his son Jesse in charge.   Marian preceded Chester in death in 2011. Mr. Ziemienski was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling and  gardening.  A bit of a Renaissance man, Chester also enjoyed oil painting, wood carving, playing flamenco music on his guitar, and dabbling in photography.  Survivors include his five children: Jesse (Pauline) Ziemienski of New Berlin, Lawrence (Karin) Ziemienski of Milwaukee, Mary (Everett) Bickford of McKinney, TX, Randolph (Mary) Ziemienski of Fairfax, VA and Linda (Joel) Britz of Saukville.  He is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his wife Marian, sisters Ann Kehl and Emily "Millie" Koepp. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 3:30PM on Thursday, January 9th at St. Joseph Parish, ‪1619 Washington St. in Grafton‬.  Fr. Mike Barrett will preside.  The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday ‪from ‬2PM until services ‪at ‬3:30PM. Chester will be laid to rest beside his wife the following day at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice are suggested in lieu of flowers.
