Obituary

Chester A. Larson nbsp; Mr. Chester Larson formerly of Dodgeville passed away Tuesday afternoon February 9 2010 at Harbor Campus in Port Washington where he had resided with his wife Ellen for the last 3 years. He was 98 years old. Chester was born May 10 1911 in Dodgeville the son of Anton and Grace Mann Larson. Chester began working for Illinois Bell Telephone in 1927 and retired as a Supervising Engineer in 1969 after 42 years of service.nbsp; On April 17 1947 he was united in marriage with Ellen Emma Carlson in Highwood Illinois. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage last April. After getting married the couple settled in Dodgeville where they raised four children together.nbsp; In the early 1950rsquo;s Chester purchased farm property near his home where he developed a black walnut forest. The wood from the farm was used on many woodworking projects throughout the years.nbsp;nbsp; Mr. Larson was a member of Dodgeville Methodist Church until moving to Port Washington in 2006. He enjoyed square dancing woodworking bowling playing horseshoes and traveling. In 1973 the couple traveled to Norway where his parents emigrated from.nbsp; Mr. Larson is survived by his wife of 62 years Ellen and their three children: Larry (Gloria) Larson of Port Washington Terry (Ruth) Larson of Seffner FL and Judy (Peter) Krebs of Waterloo. He is further survived by his daughter-in-law Charlene Larson of Beach Park IL 10 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren 1 sister Jean Cray of San Antonio FL 1 sister-in-law Ruth Lindstrom of Wheeling IL nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his son Jim his brother Stan Larson and his sister Dorothy Svecz. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday February 20 2010 at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Pastor David Guse will officiate. Chester will be laid to rest this spring at Eastside Cemetery in Dodgeville. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11AM-12 noon. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Grand Ave. United Methodist Church in Port Washington. br /Service:br /pA Memorial Service will be held at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W.
