Obituary

CHARLES W. HAYDEN CHUCK Mr. Chuck Hayden passed away at his residence in the Town of Fredonia after a valiant 19 year battle with cancer. He was 73 years old. Charles was born in Billings Montana on October 22 1941 son of Royal and Ida Haberman Hayden. While he was quite young the family moved to Red Wing MN. Chuck attended local schools before attending UW Stout and later UMN Duluth where he earned his degree in Industrial Education. He later earned his Master's degree from UW Stout. On July 16 1966 he was united in marriage with Janis Kitchell at First Methodist Church in Ada MN. The couple lived in Milwaukee before moving to the Town of Fredonia in1970. Mr. Hayden began teaching at North Division High School in Milwaukee in 1966. He also taught at Riverside High School before accepting a position at Port Washington High School where he remained until he retired in 1996. Chuck taught assorted Technical Industrial classes as well as coordinating the Work Study co-op program. Mr. Hayden was a long-time member of the Waubeka Volunteer Fire Department a former Assistant Scout Master for Kenwood Boy Scout Troop 106 and a former 4H Leader. He was a former member of Kenwood United Methodist Church in Milwaukee Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia and is currently a member at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. Chuck loved educating people; whether it was in class Scouts or even at a campground he was happy to share his wealth of knowledge with others. He was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan an avid fisherman and enjoyed cribbage travel and camping. Chuck was an engineer at heart and never built anything that wasn't built to last forever. Family was very important to him and the family vacations with his daughters and wife will provide many lasting memories. Chuck is survived by his wife Janis their three daughters: Stacey (Bradley) Martin of Seattle WA Katherine Hayden of Wisconsin and Shelly (Joshua) Boelter of Portland OR and three grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Gary (Nancy) Hayden of Rochester MN sister-in-law Marilyn Mickey Hayden of Rochester Hills MI nieces nephews other relatives former students and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Royal Hayden Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday November 30th at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church 323 S. 5th Ave. West Bend. Rev. Jeremy Deaner will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church Sunday at 1 PM and again after services. Memorial contributions in Chuck's name are suggested to Aurora Cancer Center Horizon Hospice or the Port Washington High School Scholarship Fund.
