Chad Kovacs of Port Washington passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. He was 54 years old.

Chad was born March 29, 1972, the son of William and Nancy (nee Herman) Kovacs. He grew up in Grafton and attended local schools, graduating from Grafton High School, Class of 1990. The family moved to Saukville in 1993 and later to Port Washington in 2000.

Baseball was one of Chad’s great loves. Prior to his diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy, Chad loved to play baseball and aspired to be a pitcher in the major leagues. His love of the game remained with him throughout his life. An avid sports fan, Chad transitioned his “passion to play” into video games, and looked forward each year to the newest version of Playstation Major League Baseball.

Chad enjoyed attending music concerts with his friends, creating memories in the company of those he cared about. His MD diagnosis became a part of his life that stood alongside the interests and passions that helped define him.

Chad is survived by his parents Bill and Nancy Kovacs of Port Washington, other family, and many friends.

Per his wishes, no formal services will be held.

Chad will be remembered with love for the joy he found in the things that mattered most to him and for the spirit with which he lived his life.
