Obituary

(Nee Banks) Entered Eternal Life on Tues. July 17, 2018, at the age of 97. Loving wife for 67 years to the late Alex Sicilia. Loving mother of Margaret Sartor, Nancy, Alex (Patty), Anthony (Kathleen Shallow) and Jane Orozco. Loving grandma of Alex (Adrienne) and Andrew Small, Matthew (Lindsey), Emily, Gina, Amy (Noah) Bern, Andrea (Willy) Linscott, Emily Shallow (Josh), Janine Sheedy, Robert Norton, Michael, Terese and Gino Sartor and Samatha Orozco. Loving great-grandma of Logan, Carly and Cole Sicilia, Arianna, Alexis, Eloise, Olivia, and Ava. Preceded in death by her daughters Ann (Dick) Thompson and Therese (the late Michael) Sheedy, and grandson Anthony Sicilia Jr. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Catherine was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada on December 3, 1920. She attended St. Joseph's Hospital School for Nurses in Seattle, Washington and graduated in 1943. Catherine immediately joined the US Army at the beginning of WWII. She was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1944, and It was at an Officer's dance at Camp Beale, California that she met the love of her life, and soul mate, Second Lieutenant and Judo instructor, Alex Sicilia. Shortly after meeting Alex, Catherine was shipped to the island of Luzon, in the Philippine Islands, 91st Field Hospital. As fate would have it, months later Alex was also shipped to Luzon, Philippine Islands, where they reconnected and upon the end of WWII, the two were married in Manila, Philippine, better known in our family circle as 'The Thrilla in Manila', and the rest is history. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL 10:30 AM ON SAT. July 21, 2018 AT ST. JUDE THE APOSTLE PARISH, 734 GLENVIEW AVE, WAUWATOSA, WI 53213. Interment with Military Honors at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow. Visitation Sat. at the church from 9:30 am until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to NAMI Greater Milwaukee, 3200 S 3rd St #6, Milwaukee, WI, appreciated.
