Mrs. Carole Sorgi passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton on Sunday evening, October 11, 2026, at the age of 74.
Carole was born December 30, 1951, in Vero Beach, Florida, the daughter of William and Mildred (nee Francis) Messal. She grew up in Milwaukee and attended local schools, graduating from Horace Mann High School.
Over the years, Carole worked in retail, real estate and even had her own business painting and wallpapering homes. In 1988 she moved to Port Washington with her son James “JJ” Mejchar. Carole later married Andrew Sorgi and the family settled into a home in the Town of Port Washington. Carole earned her Commercial Driver's License so she could team-drive with her husband and keep him company on the road. Andy preceded Carole in death in 1999.
Always busy with her hands, Carole was a talented artist in the medium of stained glass. Other pursuits included sewing, cake decorating, and woodworking. She continued doing projects until severe arthritis in her hands made it too difficult. Carole had the generous spirit of a giver and always wanted to make sure those around her had their hearts desire. She loved cows, kittens and cats, and was called “Kitty Grandma” by her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son James “JJ” Mejchar of Belgium, step-sons Andy and Scott (Debbie) Sorgi, both of Arizona, grandchildren James, Jessica, and Jorjie Mejchar, and Tyler and Kayla Sorgi. Carole is further survived by her sister Sue (Brian) Stys, brother Gerald (Carol) Brathol, brother-in-law Dennis Zuberbuehler, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Carole is preceded in death by her husband Andrew, her parents William and Mildred, and her sister Patricia “Tricia” Zuberbuehler.
Per Carole’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
