Mrs. Carole L. Hopkins (nee Schmidt), passed away Tuesday evening, January 5, 2016 at her home in Port Washington. She was 77 years old. Carole was born January 21, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Gladys (nee Peterson) Schmidt. On April 21, 1957, she was united in marriage with Robert Hopkins in Elvira, Iowa. In 1999, Carole retired from K-Mart in Grafton. Carole enjoyed reading, crocheting, doing word searches, fishing, wildlife and domestic animals, taking care of her grandchildren, and above all, fresh coffee. Carole is survived by her husband Robert of Port Washington and their children: Douglas Hopkins of Port Washington, Michael (Margaret) Hopkins of Grafton and Lori (Bob) Wagner of Saukville. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Matt Hopkins, Meghan (Matt) Kreis, Michelle (Shawn) Scheftgen and Ryan (Sandy) Wagner, 6 great-grandchildren, brother Aimar (Jean) Schmidt of Dewitt, IA, sister Sharon Schmidt of McKenzie, TN, other relatives and friends. A Time of Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington from 10AM – 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ozaukee Humane Society. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
