Obituary

Mrs. Carol Mortimer of Fredonia, formerly of Chicago, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 16, 2019, at Belgium Gardens where she had been a resident for the last few months. She was 75 years old. Carol was born in Chicago, IL on January 14, 1944, daughter of Raymond and Glory Grom Brennan. She attended local schools and graduated from Carl Schurz High School before completing one year of beauty school. On July 20, 1968 Carol was united in marriage with Wayne Mortimer at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago before moving to Cedarburg in 1989, and later to Fredonia in 2003. Wayne preceded Carol in death earlier this year. Mrs. Mortimer had been employed as a Medical Assistance Unit Secretary at St. Mary's Ozaukee for 23 years. Mrs. Mortimer was a member of Divine Savior Parish. She enjoyed crocheting and watching the Andy Griffith Show. Carol was a funny, clever woman who enjoyed helping others; she loved celebrating Christmas and the Fourth of July, and held a special place in her heart for her beloved granddaughter, Olivia. Carol is survived by her daughter Jenesta Mortimer and granddaughter of Olivia Herman. She is also survived by four sisters: Patricia (Arthur) Jayne of Chicago, Johanna (Roger) Jaeger, also of Chicago, Jenesta (Henry) Schrosch of Hoffman Estates, IL amd Jacqueline (Keith) Clarke of Manhattan, IL, three brothers: Raymond (Angelina) Brennan of Chicago, Joseph (Connie Sue)Brennan of Lincolnwood, IL and Paul Brennan of Morton Grove, IL. Carol is further survived by many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & -nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents, and sister Linda Angle. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 3rd at Divine Savior Parish – St. Rose Chapel, 305 Fredonia Ave, Fredonia WI. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10-11AM. The Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
