Obituary

Mrs. Carol Jones, of Port Washington Road in the Town of Grafton, peacefully passed into her Lord's arms on Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 2017, at the age of 96. Carol was born in Wonewoc, WI on January 18, 1921, daughter of Harve and Veronica Ratzburg Schroeder. She attended local schools before entering Ms. Brown's Secretarial School in Milwaukee. Carol had a great interest in music and played saxophone in the Wonewoc City Band, where she met a handsome trumpet player, Vawn Jones. They were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL on March 19, 1944. The couple settled in Port Washington after the war. Vawn preceded Carol in death in 1995. Faith was an important part of Carol's life. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington, a charter member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, former member of the Altar Guild, former member of the Ladies Aid, and had enjoyed the "Prime Timers" group at church. Carol was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzles of all kinds as well as sewing, counted cross stitch and needlework. She was a sharp card player and was partial to playing Solitaire on the computer. She developed many computer skills and loved keeping in touch with her family on Facebook. Above all, Carol treasured her grandchildren and time spent with her family and friends. Her butterhorns and pfeffernusse were family favorites and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her four children: Cynthia Jones of Grafton, Steve (Kim) Jones of Plymouth, Kristine (Steve) Biechler of Marshfield, and Caroline (John) Weidner of Columbia, SC. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren: Aaron (Kelly) Jones, Danyel (Andy) Boak, Amanda Larson, Logan Jones, Jason & Stefanie Biechler, Nicholas, Christopher and Anna Weidner. She is further survived by great-granddaughter Everly Jones, brother Gerald (Connie) Schroeder of Boise, ID, sister Joyce (the late Jim) Thornsen of Wonewoc, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Vawn. Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Sunday, November 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 217 N. Freeman Drive, Port Washington. Rev. John Klieve will preside. Carol will be laid to rest beside her family in Wonewoc the following day. The family will receive visitors at CHURCH on Sunday from 2-4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church.
