IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Elizabeth
Hoppa
March 30, 1935 – August 17, 2023
Carol Elizabeth Hoppa, of Grafton, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, but not before seeing all of her nine children, twenty grandchildren, and many of their spouses as well as photos and videos of her three great-grandchildren.
Carol was born on March 30, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Andrew H. and Helen L. (Kosidowski) Voss. She grew up on the east side of Milwaukee and earned an Associate Degree from Mount Mary College. On July 7, 1956, she was united in marriage to Thomas H. Hoppa at St. Gerard's in Milwaukee, where she taught for two years. They raised their family in Brown Deer and were active members of St. Catherine of Alexandria with all of their children attending the parish school. Carol and Tom were also very proud to have all of their children graduate from Dominican High School.
Carol loved sewing, knitting, and attending all of her children's sporting events. After raising her own children, she cared for many others at KinderCare in Menomonee Falls. In her later years she spent her time reading and watching all kinds of sports, including the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Marquette Basketball. After selling the family home in Brown Deer five years ago, Carol and Tom enjoyed all of the new friends they met and the activities they participated in at Providence Place in Grafton. Throughout her life, though, Carol's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband Tom and her nine children: Marihelen Hoppa- (Brian) Willbrandt, Kathleen Hoppa (Mike) Grady, Barbara Hoppa (Ken) Swanson, Margaret/Peg (Mike) Haischer, Julie Miller (Nic Armstrong), Andrew (Mary) Hoppa, Thomas (Jessica) Hoppa, Elizabeth/Missy (Scott) Zahn, and Patricia (Chris Moore) Hoppa. She is also survived by her twenty grandchildren: Olivia/Lulu Willbrandt, Gabrielle Willbrandt, Liam Grady, Fiona Grady, Aine Grady, Elliott Swanson, Celeste Swanson, Michael (Maria) Haischer, Ali (TJ) Roeker, Michelle Miller, Theo (Erica) Miller, Brayden Hoppa, Jack Hoppa, Emma (Tyler) Kowalewski, Greta Zahn, Owen Zahn, Ava Zahn, Dante Hoppa, Devin Moore, and Kalea Moore. She is further survived by three great-grandchildren: Jerome Haischer, Cameron Miller, and Remington Kowalewski. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Voss, many nephews and a niece and their children as well as her dear friend Claudia Weiss and godchild Rachel. She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, her daughter Susan Carol, her brother-in-law Donald Hoppa and sister-in-law Charlotte Voss.
