Carmella C. Kacheris (nee Scaffidi), passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the age of 91. Carmella was born March 1, 1926 in Cudahy, Wisconsin to Samuel and Rose (nee Piccioni) Scaffidi. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" Kacheris on September 24, 1949 in Chicago. Carmella worked in customer service at Sears Roebuck and after their retirement in 1988, the couple relocated from Des Plaines, Illinois to Port Washington, Wisconsin. Carmella enjoyed staying active and regularly attended church at St. John XXIII Parish St. Peter of Alcantara Church, water aerobics at the YMCA, activities at the Senior Center, including 'Chicks with Sticks' and enjoyed trips to the cottage up north in Boulder Lake. Carmella is survived by her son Peter (Sylvia) of Hartland, daughter Penny (Randy) Howell of Oconomowoc, 6 grandchildren: Carmen Simon, Mirabai Simon, Ben (Karen) Kacheris, Leanne (Bill) Zoesch, Jeff Kacheris and Jennifer Howell (fiance Mat), 13 great grandchildren and brothers: William (Gloria) Scaffidi and Dominic (Agnes) Scaffidi. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Carmella is preceded in death by her husband Bill Kacheris, daughter Roseann Kacheris, brother Samuel (Mary) Scaffidi, brother Frank (Marlene) Scaffidi, 6 brothers-in-laws and 4 sisters-in-laws. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. John XXIII Parish St. Peter of Alcantara Church (1800 North Wisconsin Street Port Washington, WI 53074) at 12:00 noon with Father Patrick Wendt presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 12:00PM. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington immediately following mass. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Carmella's Family for a future memorial. Carmella's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at St. Luke's Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided Carmella.
