Mrs. Carla Schuelke of Cedar Grove passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 31, 2021. She was 89 years old. Carla was born in Milwaukee on February 17, 1932, daughter of Alfred and Genevieve Wachoviak Kirchmayer. She grew up in Milwaukee and attended local schools, graduating from Rufus King High School before pursuing her nursing degree at MATC. On March 11, 1950, Carla was united in marriage with Arthur R. Schuelke. The couple settled in Milwaukee and raised their family. Mrs. Schuelke worked as a nurse at Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee. After retirement, Carla and Arthur moved to Kewaskum. They later moved to Cedar Grove in 2015 to be closer to family; Arthur preceded her in death later that year. Carla was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. She was an avid reader and was especially fond of Stephen King books and other thriller style fiction. She loved animals, especially dogs. Mrs. Schuelke enjoyed riding her bicycle and socializing with friends. During retirement, she and Arthur had enjoyed traveling through Europe. Those left to cherish her memory include her three children: Jill (the late George) Isken of Cedar Grove, Kim (Susan Cowan) Schuelke of St. Marie, WI and Jeff (Eric Miller) Schuelke of Menomonee Falls. She is further survived by other family and friends. Carla is preceded in death by her husband Arthur and her sister Joyce Douglas. Private family services will be held.
