Mr. Carl Wulff, formerly of Grafton, passed away at Harbor Club in Port Washington on Tuesday morning, October 31, 2017. He was 82. Carl was born in Milwaukee on September 22, 1935, son of Carl and Eveline Hovener Wulff. The family moved to Grafton when he was an infant, and Carl attended local schools, graduating from Grafton High School before entering the US Army. He served in Fort Bliss, Texas and was in air traffic control; Carl wrote pertinent data on a large sheet of glass, which the pilots would read on the opposite side of the glass as he was writing. He was most proud of his ability to write backward.
When Carl moved back home, he took a position as custodian with Grafton School District, where he remained until he retired in 2000. He enjoyed his time at school; he had nicknames for many students and enjoyed teasing them in passing.
Following his retirement, Carl moved to Harbor Club in Port Washington. Upon moving, he said, "This is my home now and the workers here are my family." Carl was there longer than many of the current staff, and enjoyed interacting with all of them.
Mr. Wulff enjoyed snowmobiling, deer hunting (he had a mount of a ten point buck hanging on the wall of his room at Harbor Club), collecting antique clocks (at his home, he had a room dedicated to them), Ozaukee County Investment Club and spending time at his acre ("Da Gynt") in the Town of Grafton.
Carl is survived by his sister Lorna May (Donald) Huebner of Madison, and brothers Bill (Lorna) Wulff of Cedar Grove, Kurt (Louise) Wulff of Needham, MA and Keith (Judith) Wulff of La Grange, KY. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Rev. Kelly Nieman-Anderson will preside. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 1PM until services at 2PM. Carl will be laid to rest beside his family at Lakefield Cemetery in the Town of Grafton.
