IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce K.
Platta
March 12, 1959 – May 10, 2024
Dr. Bruce Kevin Platta of Mequon, WI, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024 with family by his side.
Bruce was born on March 12, 1959 to Arnold and Arlette (nee Spaude) Platta of Rhinelander, WI. He grew up in the Northwoods where he enjoyed summers swimming in the lakes, playing tennis with his friends, and snowmobiling in the winter.
Bruce graduated Rhinelander High School in 1977 and attended the current National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1983.
Bruce would go on to purchase a chiropractic practice in Saukville in 1985 which was destroyed by the historic floods of 1988. To get back on his feet, he worked for another area chiropractor only a year before reopening his own practice in Port Washington. The quick turnaround was due to the overwhelming support of his patients, which he never forgot and always strived to serve.
Bruce was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1996 and forced into retirement by his disability in 2009 at the age of 49. He then moved to Land O' Lakes, WI, so he could enjoy wildlife and sunsets on the shore of Lac Vieux Desert. During these years he hosted vacations for his parents, children, and friends. They went on countless adventures snowmobiling, boating, site seeing, golfing, and dining at the great restaurants of Vilas County. He loved lounging on the patio watching his family grill meals while eagles soared overhead and otters swam the shoreline. As dusk fell and loons called into the night, he would gaze out the window and say to his family "It's like living in a dream."
In 2019, Bruce moved back to southeastern Wisconsin to be close to his family as his disease progressed, but was blessed in that year to welcome the first of his two grandchildren. In the last several years he was lucky enough to be able to vacation again throughout the Northwoods with his children and grandchildren, including a few returns to his beloved Lac Vieux Desert.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sons Matthew of Muskego, WI, Andrew (Mary Kay) of Grafton, WI, and David of Glendale, WI, and by grandchildren Adelyn and Kristopher.
A private service will be held for Bruce by his family. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Lawlis Family Hospice and Aurora Medical Center Grafton for their care.
