IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bradley J.
Leduc
March 17, 1940 – November 9, 2024
Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Brad LeDuc of Port Washington passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by his family following an illness. He was 84 years old.
Bradley, and his twin brother James "Jim", were born on March 17, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, sons of Claude J. and Rosabelle (Gerlach) LeDuc. The family settled in Green Bay when Brad was a child. He attended local schools through his graduation from Green Bay's Premontre High School in 1958. Throughout high school, Brad worked many jobs including working at his dad's gas stations and at Holzer Drug Store in Green Bay. He used these skills and carried a strong work ethic into everything he did, always looking to help, and not stopping until the work was done. Even at age 84, he hadn't let go of his full-service gas station roots, sneaking outside to clean his kids' windshields before they'd hit the road after a visit.
Brad was a humanitarian. Every path he took was in service to others including involvement in the 1960s Civil Rights movement, teaching students, and guiding family, church, and community organizations. He was always curious and loved opportunities to learn. Brad earned degrees from St. Norbert College, UW-Oshkosh, and St Francis de Salles Seminary in Milwaukee. Following ordination, he was assigned to churches in the Fox Valley area. Feeling that his most meaningful ministry could be done nurturing a family and serving the broader community, Brad completed his Masters Degree in guidance and counseling and started the Port Washington-Saukville School District elementary school counseling program in 1973.
During the 35-year teaching career that followed, he devoted himself to the emotional, social, and moral well-being of children. His teachings extended far beyond the classroom, with every interaction rooted in kindness, empathy, respect, and patience.
Brad was united in marriage with Becky Richardson in Harmony, MN, on July 19, 1975. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their three children. Brad taught in his kids' school district, was a Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and supported his kids in every effort they chose. Outside of his faith, his family was most important to him and he took every chance to spend time with his kids and his grandkids, who knew him as "Papa".
Service organizations held a special place in Brad's heart. He was a faithful member of Living Hope Lutheran Church in Saukville, where he sang in the choir, played guitar, served on the church council, and was an active and hands-on property caretaker. He was a member of the Port Washington Kiwanis Club, WREA & OCAREA retired teachers' groups, and was instrumental in founding Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee County in 1974. He remained involved for over 50 years and his caring legacy is now honored each year with the "LeDuc Award" given to an outstanding "Big" (mentor).
Brad is survived by his loving wife Becky, their children Nathan (Jenny) LeDuc of Appleton, Andrew (Sarah) LeDuc of Port Washington, and Maria (Brad) Bichler, also of Appleton, and seven grandchildren: Brooklyn, Brady, Hannah, Norah, Kai, Lainee, and Drew. He is further survived by siblings Claude (the late Lois) LeDuc Jr. of De Pere, Jon "Jack" LeDuc, also of De Pere, Greg LeDuc of Henderson, NV, Steve (Sue) LeDuc of Green Bay, Nancy LeDuc of Madison, Jean (Terry) Hunt of Floyds Knobs, IN, Jeff LeDuc of St. Michael, MN, and Doug (Ellen) LeDuc of Sobieski, numerous nieces and nephews, other family and many friends. Brad is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother James "Jim", and brother Thomas LeDuc.
