IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bob
Mccown
November 10, 1932 – August 15, 2023
Bob McCown, of Port Washington passed away and was born into eternal life during the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at the age of 90. Originally from South Texas and born on November 10th, 1932, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the ripe old age of 19 and served our Nation from 1951-1957 including his time overseas in the Korean War.
Upon his discharge from the Corps, Bob eventually settled in Chicago, and would reside on the Northwest Side for the next 60 plus years. Bob met his wife Pauline "in an alley" as often said to others – a bowling alley. Pauline would become the love of his life and they married on August 6th, 1966 and then had their son, Don.
Bob worked for years in metal finishing in the manufacturing industry and upon his retirement, enjoyed his time as an usher at Wrigley Field and the Allstate Arena. Bob loved the outdoors, coaching little league baseball, was an avid sports fan, and delighted his family each Christmas season with handmade ornaments. Bob was most proud of his American Legion membership at the F.D.R. Post #923 and he'd have you know that he was born to be a Marine as he shared the same November 10th birthday with the Marine Corps.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother, and is survived by his devoted wife, Pauline, son Don (Lynette), as well as dozens of nieces and nephews.
Bob's family offers immense thanks to the entire staff at The Harbor Campus Assisted Living facility in Port Washington in addition to the Allay Home and Hospice group. If you'd like to honor Bob's memory, be kind to someone, offer them a smile, and tell those closest to you how much you love them. Bob would truly like that.
Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Port Washington Food Pantry for those in need would be greatly appreciated.
