Bernice Fellenz, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at her residence. She was 98 years old. Bernice was born in Port Washington on January 24, 1919, daughter of John Decker and Anna Flerchinger Decker. She grew up in Port Washington, graduating from Port Washington High School in 1937. On July 20, 1946 she married Gerald Fellenz at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1991. Bernice worked as a cook for many local restaurants, including Port Hotel and Ewig's Deli. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Parish (now St. John XXIII Parish), a 69 year member of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 82 in Port Washington and also ran her own canasta card club for over 70 years. Bernice loved to cook. She could feed the whole neighborhood and often did. She enjoyed watching TV, dancing, singing and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Jack (Louise) Fellenz of Saukville, Rick (Jane) Fellenz and Sharon (Gary) Anzia, both of the Town of Port Washington. She is further survived by six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Marion Jablonski of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, four brothers: Elmer, Orlando "Butzy", Marvin and John Jr., three sisters: Mildred Decker, Jean Schoenknecht, and Shirley Probelski, her brother-in-law Ron Fellenz, and sister-in-law Shirley Michalica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 21st at 6 PM at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church in Port Washington. Father Pat Wendt will preside over the Mass. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Mausoleum in Port Washington. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 21st at the CHURCH from 3-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, Bernice's family asks for donations to a charity of the donor's choice. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
