Bernardine C. Huerta Penny (nee Kodet) Bernardine Penny Huerta of Port Washington passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Thursday November 24 2011 surrounded by her family at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon at 88 years old. Penny was born in Manitowoc on May 20 1923 daughter of Joseph Kodet and Wanda Glomski Kodet. She grew up with her three sisters in Manitowoc graduating from Lincoln High School in 1941. After graduation she joined the USO traveling to both San Francisco CA and Virginia Beach VA in support of the troops of WWII. On April 2 1949 she married Seferino Frank Huerta at Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee. As one of her many roles in life she worked for Milwaukee Public Schools as a teachers aid. Penny loved to dance and also sang live on WOMT radio in Manitowoc. She also enjoyed camping with her family gardening and organizing family events. She is survived by her five children; Pamela Iraci of La Plata NM Michael Huerta of Rockville MD Mary (Michael) Mann of Port Washington John Huerta of Half Moon Bay CA and James (Michelle) Huerta of Mequon. She is further survived by nine grandchildren; Jason Joshua Matthew Katherine Nathan Allison Stephanie Lindsey and Edith three great-grandchildren; Xavier Alexandria and Savannah nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and three sisters Alice Cavanaugh Josephine Wanta and Elizabeth Zapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 30 2011 at 11 AM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington with Father Pat Wendt officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday November 30th from 9-11 AM.
