Bernard L. Hoppe Bernie Bernard Hoppe of Random Lake formerly of Fredonia passed away in the evening hours of Monday January 12 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend. He was 81 years old. Bernie was born on January 28 1933 in Embarrass WI son of Ben Hoppe and Beatrice Fredrick Hoppe. After graduating from Clintonville high school 1951 Bernie served his country honorably in the US Army. On October 27 1962 he married Ann Nett at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary WI. After taking a position with American Can Company in Milwaukee Bernie and Ann settled in Fredonia to raise their family. He retired from American Can in 1988 and started working part-time as a parts driver for Car Quest Auto in Port Washington retiring from there in 2012. Bernie's love of music was second only to his love of his family. He started playing the tuba in high school and played professionally in many area polka bands including the Dick Rodgers' Orchestra the Six Fat Dutchmen and the Don Peachey Orchestra. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame in 2003. He was a member of Divine Savior Parish in Fredonia the American Legion Post 470 in Fredonia and was a former member of the American Steel Workers Union. He enjoyed traveling taking his family on many trips throughout the country. He is survived by his wife Ann of Random Lake three sons; Frank (Beth) Hoppe of Waunakee John (Karen) Hoppe of Appleton and Thomas of Fredonia. He is further survived by four grandchildren; Madison Gretchen Adam and Kristen two brothers Marvin (the late Rose) of Fredonia and Lee Hoppe of Random Lake sisters-in-law Pat (Fred) Thuecks of North Fond du Lac Sharon Nett of Fond du Lac Betty Nett of New Holstein and Diane (the late Joe) Nett of Malone brothers-in-law Jim (Rosemary) Nett of Pocatello ID and Jerry Nett of Fond du Lac nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Emily Fraley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 19th 6:30 PM at Divine Savior Parish - Holy Cross Chapel in Holy Cross. Father Guy Gurath will preside. He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held on Monday January 19th at the CHURCH from 4:30-6:30 PM.
