Mr. Bernie Risch, of Mink Ranch Road in the Town of Port Washington, passed away at his home on May 27, 2017. He was 68 years old. Bernard was born in Sheboygan on January 12, 1949, son of Bernard B. "Bennie" Risch and Theresa Kirst Risch. Bernie was united in marriage with Joyce Weber on April 11, 1970 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. The couple settled in Port Washington and started their family of four active boys. Mr. Risch worked at Allen Edmonds Shoe Factory in Belgium and later Port Washington. He started when he was 16 and retired in 2010, having done every job in the plant. Bernie was a guy who could fix almost anything, and frequently would have machines in the shop fixed before the official repairmen could get there. He loved riding his candy-apple red Honda Goldwing motorcycle, gardening and building things. He enjoyed woodworking, and had been a woodworking leader for the Knellsville 4H club for many years. Bernie was a member of St. John XXIII Parish in Port Washington. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, and four sons: Peter Risch (friend Stacy Wagner) of Port Washington, Patrick Risch (friend Wendy Taylor) of Colgate, Scott Risch (friend Kay Mueller) of Random Lake and Andrew (Tracii) Risch of Cedarburg. He is further survived by four grandsons: Blake Bratcher, Eric, Austin and Matthew Risch, sisters Victoria Zollner of Germantown and Mary Jane Winter of Sheboygan, sister-in-law Janet Risch of Sheboygan Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents Bennie & Theresa and brothers Arnold "Arnie" and Victor Risch. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, on Tuesday, June 13th at 6PM. Father Patrick Wendt will celebrate the mass. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday, June 13th from 3-6PM. Mr. Risch will be laid to rest in St. Mary Parish Cemetery, Lake Church, at a later date. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
