IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernadette A.
Brodzeller
February 11, 1938 – May 22, 2025
Bernadette "Bernie" Annette Mary Catherine (née Dargo) Brodzeller, 87, formally of Grafton, WI, earned her angel wings on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at her home in West Bend, WI with many loved ones by her side.
A loving mother, grandmother, companion and friend, Bernie was born on February 11, 1938, to Edward and Clara Dargo of Milwaukee, WI. She was the 14th of 15 children. Her life from the very beginning was lively with so many siblings, and Bernie continued with her fun adventurous spirit until her passing.
There were few things she couldn't do, and many things she could that many couldn't. Anything that she touched she could make beautiful, and no project was too big for her to handle. She remodeled and decorated the home with her former husband, Dave, where they raised their two children.
Bernie was a beautician for many years, enjoyed gardening, and loved sports, including bowling, tennis, and golf. A true competitor, she never turned down a good card game, and she particularly loved sitting behind her baby grand piano where she could play a melody that would light up the room. Of course, if it was a Packers game day, you could hear her hootin' and hollering to get the party going!
Always ready for an adventure, Bernie adored traveling far and wide. In particular, she loved her visits to Colorado to see Alan and Adam, Karen, David, Abby and Brianna. Though her kids were far away, they were always close to her heart. Her love and support and devotion to her family was unwavering.
Later in life, she attracted the attention of Hans Hansen. Over the 20 years of their relationship together, the two traveled often, from the beautiful scenic drives of Wisconsin to the European countryside. Eventually Bernie moved to West Bend to live with Hans, which allowed her to spend time with his family, which she greatly enjoyed. Hans was devoted to Bernie, doing all he could to care for her until her last day.
For those blessed to have known her, you knew that when you were with Bernie, you were guaranteed a good time. She had the most infectious laugh and riotous sense of humor, of which she maintained until her passing.
In her final weeks, the love she had so meticulously woven into her life showed through. Many family and friends visited, and in true Bernie fashion, she soaked up every minute. Her family's love shined through during this difficult time.
Bernie will be deeply missed and leaves a legacy of love behind, which includes her son Alan Brodzeller and her daughter Karen (David) Cho, grandchildren Abby & Brianna Cho, Adam Brodzeller, and Robyn LeMay and Hans Hansen and his family. She is further survived by her sister Donna Mae Eggerman, her brother Bernard Dargo, and many cherished friends and a beloved large extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the charity of your choice in Bernie's memory is appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 5-7pm at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave, Cedarburg, WI 53012.
The family would like to thank the nurses from Horizon Hospice for their support and kindness during this time.
