Benjamin "Ben" Zak, age 35 of the Town of Belgium passed away on Monday evening, February 20, 2023, at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon. He was born February 26, 1987, in Milwaukee, son of Peter (Rosann) Zak and Rita Spinella (Paul) Olsen.

Although faced with the physical challenges of his disorder, Ben experienced life to the fullest, surrounded by family and friends. His infectious smile and hardy laugh could light up a room. Ben eventually left home to reside in a group home located in Port Washington operated by Balance Inc.

While there, he continued his happy life's journey surrounded by his peers and loving caregivers. Ben is survived by his parents, his sisters Natasha Saiz, Monica (Neil) Hinze and Erica (Eric) Theel and his brother Dennis (Paula) Skarr. He is the beloved uncle to Ella, McKenzie, Emma, Hazel, and Sam. Further survived by aunts and uncles Michael Zak, Karen Zak, Elizabeth (Ron) Lundgren, Mary Zak-Holzer, Christopher (Robin) Zak, Susan Zak, and Mary (Tony) Blasnig and his cousins Jessica (Tavis) Ramsey, Orion Ramsey, Joshua Frias, Kacie Zak, and Serafina. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Chester and Patricia Zak, Bruno and Inez Spinella, uncles Kenneth Holzer and Ron Spinella, aunt Kathy Spinella and nephew Santino Saiz.

Funeral Saturday, March 11, 3 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. Private inurnment St. Mary Parish Cemetery, Belgium. Visitation at the funeral home Saturday from 1-3 PM.

Ben's family greatly appreciates Balance Inc. for their compassionate care as well as allowing Ben to enjoy his life to the fullest.
