Mr. Ben Schaap passed away at his residence in Belgium Monday evening, February 8, 2016. He was 32 years old. Ben was born on June 27, 1983 in Madison, son of Kurt Erickson and Ginger Gamerdinger. After his father's passing, Ben was adopted by Jeffrey Schaap. The family moved to Saukville in 1993, and later to Belgium in 2006. Ben had recently moved back to Belgium from Milwaukee. Ben enjoyed hunting; it didn't matter whether it was deer, goose, squirrel, turkey or rabbit. He also loved to fish, with his favorite spot being the intake by the Port Washington power plant. He was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing in pencil and charcoal, as well as painting. Mr. Schaap is survived by his parents Jeff and Ginger Schaap of Belgium, brothers Isaac (Marilou) Erickson, also of Belgium, and Greg Schaap of Milwaukee, sisters Rebecca (Michael) Raether of Belgium and Jessica (Tim) Fohr of Lakeville, MN, and nine nieces & nephews: Elliejo, Courtney, Taylor, Madelyn, Anthony, Charlie, Tanner, Blake and Ezekiel. He is further survived by his grandparents Elsie Gamerdinger of Muskego, Arthur & Lorraine Schaap of Worthington, MN and Spencer & Claire Erickson of Pardeeville, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Kurt Erickson, grandfather John Gamerdinger and grandmother Marjorie Erickson. Funeral Services will be held at 7PM on Friday, February 12th at Portview Church, 3457 County Road LL in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Friday from 4-7PM. He will be laid to rest beside his grandfather at Highland Memorials Park the following day. The Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
