Lanza, Benedetto Sr., age 91, passed away at Lawlis Family Hospice on February 20, 2016. He was born in Messina Sicily, Italy on August 31, 1924 to Benedetto and Bruno Annibale (nee Rosa) Lanza. Benedetto married Angela (nee Russo) on April 12, 1947 in Italy. Benedetto worked for Fiat in Italy before relocating to the United States in 1967. He later retired from Hunter Machinery Co. in September of 1986. Benedetto enjoyed making wine and working in his garden. Although he worked as a mechanic, he loved to repair heavy machinery and equipment in his free time, even if the tires were bigger then him. Benedetto had a lot of patience and would quietly sit on a bench while Angela shopped. Above all, Benedetto cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Benedetto is survived by his loving wife Angela: four sons Ben (Darlene) of Port Washington, Leonardo (Judy) of Wauwatosa, Armando of Germantown and Claudio (Joelle) Lanza of Saukville: sister-in-law Catherine (Joe) LaRosa and family: 19 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Benedetto is further survived by many other nieces and nephews in Milwaukee, New York and Sicily as well as other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church (1800 North Wisconsin Street Port Washington, WI 53074) on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 12:00 PM with Father Pat Wendt presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 12:00 PM. Benedetto's family gratefully honors and appreciates all the patience and compassionate care the Lawlis Family Hospice provided him during his stay.
