Obituary

Mr. Barry Fletcher of Garay Lane in Port Washington passed away Friday morning March 30 2012 at Vitas Inpatient Hospice in Wauwatosa. He was 76 years old. Barry was born November 21 1935 in Winnipeg Manitoba son of Herbert and Wilhelmina Tunley Fletcher. He was a 1953 graduate of Riverside High School in Milwaukee. Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army before following his artistic dreams. He began his career as a Line Artist for John Higgs Studios in Milwaukee and later Advertising Art Studios. Later he became a Technical Illustrator at A.C. Electronics followed by the position of Art Director at Sunbeam Electronics in Racine. He then handled Sales Promotion Advertising and Public Relations for The Wacker Corporation. He moved to position of Account Executive for two different Advertising Agencies before ending his promotional career as the Manager of Marketing Services for Cahners Publishing in Chicago. Later Barry co-owned Fletchers Flowers and Gifts in Shorewood with his first wife Kathleen Fletcher. On August 19 1990 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Gruetzmacher (nee Eske formerly Aalto) in Saukville. Barry was a member of Unity Church of Sheboygan as well as the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post #82 in Port Washington. He will be remembered by his friends and family as an artist who actively engaged in amateur artistic endeavors and won awards in local and regional exhibits for his watercolors and caseins. He also enjoyed developing writing illustrating and presenting his cartooned 'flip chart' story programs for children. Barry was an avid fisherman who also developed tied and traded his own tried and true fly patterns with fellow fishermen. Barry is survived by his wife Dorothy Fletcher son Bruce (Linda) Fletcher of Milwaukee and step-children: Christine (Mark) Jaeger of Port Washington Ruth (Edward) Mixdorf of Grafton and Jane (Kenneth) Yoho of Random Lake. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by step-daughter Susan Aalto and former wife Kathleen Fletcher. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday April 7 2012 at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington with Rev. Pat Brown and Rev. Ginny Stuve co-officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday 12 noon til 1PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Unity Church of Sheboygan 2409 N. 8th St. Sheboygan WI 53083 or a charity of your choice.
